About Ivy House Residential Care Home

Ivy House Residential Care Home in Derby provides personal care for up to 12 older people, some living with physical and sensory disabilities and dementia. Nine people lived there at the time of the assessment. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall, with Safe rated Inadequate, after finding four breaches of legal regulations relating to consent, safe care and treatment, governance and staff recruitment.

Inspectors found accidents and incidents were not always reviewed to prevent reoccurrence, care plans lacked detail, and mental capacity assessments were not always properly considered. Staff training gaps and incomplete recruitment checks were also identified, alongside weak quality monitoring systems. However, residents felt safe and well cared for, praising kind staff, good food, activities and a clean, welcoming home.
