About Holy Name Community Rehabilitation Centre

Holy Name Community Rehabilitation Centre calls Kingston upon Hull home, a city with a strong sense of community and a rich local identity. The centre offers a welcoming environment for those on a journey back to independence, with a genuine focus on supporting people through what can be a challenging time. Families can take comfort in knowing that the team here is dedicated to providing care with warmth and respect at every step.

Holy Name Community Rehabilitation Centre provides accommodation, personal and nursing care for up to 64 people requiring short-term rehabilitation and reablement support to return home or prevent hospital admission. At the time of inspection, 56 people were residing at the service across three adapted areas. Staff were safely recruited and received safeguarding training, understanding their responsibilities to protect people from abuse.

People and staff spoke positively about the management, and inspectors observed a positive, caring culture where people were treated with dignity and respect.

However, several concerns were identified. Medicines management was not always in line with best practice, with medicine administration records not fully completed and guidance for staff inconsistently available. Risks associated with people's care had not always been clearly recorded in care plans or risk assessments, and measures to reduce harm were not always accessible to staff.

While a quality and safety monitoring system existed, it was not always effective in identifying and addressing issues. Additionally, policies and systems did not always support staff to provide care in the least restrictive way possible in people's best interests.
