Hillcrest House

Hillcrest House provides personal and nursing care to up to 88 older people and people with physical disabilities, with 53 residents at the time of inspection. The service had experienced challenges following a change in provider, with concerns raised about food quality and staffing levels. Residents and staff reported that meal provision had become inconsistent, with one staff member noting that after the chef's departure there was little support, though this was improving with a new chef in place. Some residents reported difficulty getting timely responses when using their call bells and were unable to access showers when they wished.

Management acknowledged that staffing levels had been challenging during the summer months but confirmed the service was now fully staffed. Residents expressed concerns about the transition, with comments that "things have changed and not for the better" and that communication during the changeover had been poor. The management team were aware of these issues and indicated that arrangements were being addressed.
