Highfields Nursing Home

Highfields Nursing Home provides personal and nursing care for up to 42 people aged 60 and over, including those living with dementia. The service operates from one adapted building across two floors with communal lounges and dining facilities. At inspection, 27 people were resident at the home.

Inspectors found significant concerns with infection control due to weak cleaning processes and insufficient provider oversight of cleaning, equipment and environmental safety. Medicines management and administration were not consistently safe, with outdated audits, staff training and competency assessments. Quality monitoring systems lacked currency and there was minimal evidence of ongoing improvement. However, care records contained appropriate information and guidance to support safe care delivery, and risk management processes were in place for people at high risk of falls or those presenting behavioural risks to others.
