About Hawthorn Court

Hawthorn Court is a residential care home in South Tyneside, offering personal care for older people, including those living with dementia, physical disability or sensory impairment. Further details on the service can be found in the CQC findings below.

Hawthorn Court provides accommodation and personal care for up to 62 older people, including those living with dementia, physical disability or sensory impairment. The CQC rated the service Good overall, finding a well-maintained, welcoming environment, varied meals, and staff who respected people's choices and involved them in decisions about their care.

Inspectors found people and relatives spoke highly of the manager and the care provided, describing staff as kind and attentive. However, staff were often busy, meaning some people waited for assistance and were not always engaged in activities, and improvements were needed to governance, audits and medicines management.
