Grovelands Lodge

Grovelands Lodge, in Essex, is a small residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to four older people and younger adults with mental health needs. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement, finding continued breaches around safe care and treatment and good governance, alongside a new breach relating to the employment of fit and proper persons. Care was not always personalised, and quality checks were not effective in identifying or addressing problems.

Inspectors did note positives: staff were caring, respected people's privacy and dignity, and felt well supported by management. Relatives spoke positively, with one describing staff as welcoming. The provider has been asked to submit a further action plan to address the concerns found.
