Gorselands Residential Home

This residential care home provides personal care for up to 21 older people, some living with dementia. The large period property has communal areas and bedrooms across two floors with a lift to the upper level. At the time of inspection, 16 people were using the service.

Since the previous inspection, the provider and registered manager had reviewed systems and procedures, with clear evidence of improvement throughout. People who had capacity had consented to their care, though records for those without capacity required further review to ensure they aligned with best practice. The provider subsequently completed a comprehensive review of these records to protect residents' rights.

While risks had been reviewed since the last inspection, some environmental hazards remained unassessed and unmitigated. The environment was not always suitable for people living with dementia, particularly those whose condition was likely to deteriorate.
