Gibson's Lodge is a nursing home in Croydon providing personal care and support to older people, many living with dementia. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, finding breaches relating to staffing levels, safe care and treatment, consent, person-centred care and governance. Inspectors found care plans lacked clear risk guidance, medicines were not always safely managed, and staff did not consistently complete mental capacity assessments.

Activities were often task-led rather than personalised, and call bells were not always answered promptly.

Despite this, inspectors observed kind and caring interactions, and residents spoke positively about staff, saying they felt safe and well looked after. A new management team had recently started, aiming to strengthen oversight, and the provider was working with the local authority to address the shortfalls identified.
