Gerald House

Gerald House provides personal care for up to 17 older people, many living with dementia, in a single adapted house. The service supports residents to have maximum choice and control over their lives, with staff using the least restrictive approaches possible. People told inspectors they felt safe at the service, and relatives were confident staff knew their loved ones well and supported them according to their preferences. Health and social care professionals spoke positively about the care provided.

Risks to people and the environment are regularly assessed and reviewed. Staff understand how to minimise avoidable harm and prevent infection. The service follows safe recruitment practices with appropriate checks to ensure suitable staff are employed. There appears to be a sufficient number of staff on duty, which is supported by feedback from residents and their relatives.
