Fernlea

Fernlea provides residential care and support for autistic people and those with learning disabilities, accommodating up to 13 residents in one adapted building. At inspection, ten people were living there. The home supported people with their care needs and respected their choices, enabling maximum control over their lives while using the least restrictive practices. Staff received safeguarding training and understood how to protect people from abuse. Medicines were safely managed, and the manager was responsive to feedback about improvements needed during inspection.

However, the environment required enhancements to its décor to better reflect the people living there and support effective hygiene practices, though residents were having input into decorating their own rooms. Staff training needed development, as staff had not received specific training around the particular needs of the people living in the home.
