Farmhouse Residential Rest Home

This home provides accommodation and personal care for up to 23 people, some living with dementia. At inspection, 19 people were using the service. The home had implemented several measures to support residents' wellbeing and safety during the pandemic. Visits were facilitated by prior arrangement with PPE provided for visitors, and a cabin with separate access and Perspex screen had been installed in the garden to enable safe, socially distanced visits. Staff had reorganised shift patterns and staggered breaks to reduce mixing and promote social distancing, while communal areas were organised into 'bubbles' to minimise infection spread.

The home maintained high standards of cleanliness with a thorough cleaning system and regular checks in place. Bathrooms and toilets had been refurbished to support hygiene standards. Communication with families was supported through a weekly newsletter and an online relatives forum established to gather feedback on service improvements. The registered manager maintained a detailed COVID-19 implementation plan throughout the pandemic, documenting how the home addressed emerging situations and using this as a tool for reflection and learning.
