Fairhaven Care Home

Fairhaven Care Home, on the Isle of Wight, provides care and support to older people, including those living with dementia, and was caring for 19 people at the time of assessment. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall, finding a breach of regulations relating to good governance. Audits had failed to pick up risks around the environment, infection control and safe medicines management, though the provider agreed to take immediate action.

Inspectors found much to praise elsewhere. Staff were kind, respectful and person-centred, staffing levels were sufficient, and recruitment was safe. People and relatives spoke positively about care, communication and feeling safe, and mental capacity assessments were completed appropriately where needed.
