Eversley Rest Home

The following is CQC's published account of its assessment, published 9 June 2025. References to “we” mean CQC. It describes findings at that time.

Date of Assessment: 7 May 2025. Eversley Rest Home is a residential care home providing support to 26 older people some of whom were living with dementia. It is also registered to provide accommodation and personal care for those with learning disabilities or autistic spectrum disorder. As a result, we assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. However, although specific consideration was given towards this, people’s primary needs were age and dementia in this instance.

This inspection was completed to follow up on concerns from our last inspection. As a result we looked at the safe and well led quality statements only. At our last inspection the service was in breach of legal regulations regarding keeping people safe, the physical environment and checking the quality of care. At this inspection the service had made improvements and was no longer in breach of legal regulations.

The provider identified potential risks with the physical environment and took action to reduce the potential for harm. People were safe from avoidable harm and were supported by staff who understood and managed risks. People were protected from the risk of ill treatment and abuse as staff had been trained to recognise when something was wrong and knew what to do. The management team had effective quality assessments in place to identify and drive improvements.

People were supported by enough staff who had been safely recruited. Staff received training specific to those they supported. This included specific dementia training and learning disability and autistic spectrum awareness training. People received their medicines as prescribed.

Staff made sure people understood their care to enable them to give informed consent. Staff involved those important to people and took decisions in people’s best interests where they did not have capacity.

Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities.
