Edward House

Edward House is a residential care home over two floors, providing personal care and support to older people and people living with dementia. The CQC rated it Requires Improvement overall. Inspectors found risks were not always well managed, medicines were not consistently handled safely, and quality checks failed to pick up these problems.

Staff had not received regular supervision, and the management team was not always approachable when people wanted to raise concerns.

On a more positive note, inspectors found enough experienced staff were in place, and people were supported to take part in meaningful activities. Staff were described as kind and respectful, protecting people's privacy and dignity, and decisions around consent followed the Mental Capacity Act. People said they felt safe and well cared for, though families were not always involved in reviewing care plans.
