Easterlea

Easterlea is a care home providing personal care and support to older people. The CQC found three breaches of legal regulations, relating to unsafe management of medicines, failures to protect people from abuse, and weak governance and audit systems. Safeguarding concerns had not always been reported promptly to the local authority or the CQC, and there was little evidence of learning from incidents to keep people safer.

Despite this, relatives spoke positively about the care provided, describing staff as approachable, professional and attentive, with enough well trained staff on duty. Families felt informed about risks and confident in the leadership team, though inspectors concluded that safety and management shortfalls meant the service required improvement overall.
