About Cranlea

Cranlea is a residential care home in Newcastle upon Tyne, providing personal and nursing care to older people. Further detail on the CQC's findings is set out below.

Cranlea provides personal and nursing care to 37 people aged 65 and over in one large adapted building, with capacity for up to 39 residents. The home maintains sufficient supplies of appropriate PPE stored hygienically and safely, with separate areas for staff to put on, take off, and dispose of equipment. Staff demonstrate good knowledge of supporting people with COVID-19 symptoms and maintain appropriate social distancing while wearing PPE in line with government guidance.

All staff, including catering and housekeeping teams, have undertaken training in infection prevention and control, covering PPE procedures and hand hygiene. Senior staff have implemented quality systems to monitor that the service provides safe care. The home does not operate cross-staffing arrangements with other care homes, helping to maintain infection control standards.
