Claxton House is a care home for up to 15 people with learning disabilities or autistic spectrum disorder. At the time of inspection, all 15 places were occupied. Staff understood their responsibilities to protect people from abuse and avoidable harm, with risks assessed and managed appropriately.

People's human rights and freedoms were respected within the service's risk management plan. Routine checks and maintenance were carried out on the premises and equipment, and staff knew what to do in the event of an emergency, accident or incident. People were given choices and participation within the local community was encouraged.
