Burrswood Care Home

This care home provides personal and nursing care across three units: Peel offers nursing care for people living with dementia, Kay provides residential care for people with dementia, and Crompton offers general residential care. At the time of inspection, 75 people were accommodated.

However, significant concerns were identified regarding medicines management. Medicines could not always be accounted for and some residents did not receive their prescribed medications at the correct times. Notably, several people received night-time medicines at teatime on multiple days because no trained staff were available to administer them on those units during evenings. Management of incidents including falls was unsafe, with staff failing to adequately mitigate known risks for vulnerable residents. Safeguarding referrals were not consistently made to the local authority when people experienced harm. Staff deployment was also disorganised and frequently chaotic, contributing to these operational and safety failures.
