Burdon Grange Care Home

Burdon Grange provides nursing care for up to 31 people with complex physical and nursing needs in an adapted building, plus a separate flat for two people. At inspection, 26 people were using the service. Staff were observed to be caring and treated people with dignity and respect, with people well supported in their daily lives.

However, inspectors found concerns around medicines management, including unsafe storage of some medicines and incomplete recording of variable dose medication. Clinical records contained omissions that could expose people to risk. The provider's policies were not comprehensive in all areas, and governance systems had not identified these issues. While no harm was evident at the time of inspection, people were at risk of not receiving care in line with their assessed needs. Some staff felt communication from the registered manager could be improved to better support the people they cared for and strengthen team cohesion.
