About Brook Lodge

Brook Lodge is a residential care home in Gloucestershire, providing support for people with learning disabilities. Details of the CQC's most recent findings are set out below.

Brook Lodge accommodates eight people with learning disabilities, four of whom have swallowing difficulties. The service has a dysphagia management policy aligned with current national guidance. Staff regularly assess each resident's needs, including eating and drinking support, and complete choking risk assessments for those with swallowing difficulties.

People are referred to speech and language therapists when their needs change or following any choking incident. The registered manager and staff team understand the risks associated with dysphagia and carefully follow individualised eating and drinking support plans that incorporate specialist guidance. Residents with swallowing difficulties are supported to enjoy a balanced diet according to their preferences.

The provider and registered manager remain committed to making improvements in response to specific incidents.
