Breakaway Short Breaks

Breakaway Short Breaks provides respite care for adults with learning disabilities, some of whom may have sensory or physical impairments. The service, which accommodates up to eight people in an adapted bungalow-style building, offers varying-length stays and emergency placements when needed. At the time of inspection, five people were using the service.

The home has made significant improvements to medicines management, with storage and documentation now following current national guidelines and provider policy. Risk assessment and management plans, along with care plans, now include detailed guidance to help staff provide safe and personalised care. The provider has established systems and policies to protect people from abuse and manages recruitment carefully, carrying out appropriate checks to ensure staff are suitable for the role. Quality assurance systems have also been strengthened to identify and respond to emerging issues more quickly.
