About Brackenlea Care Home

Brackenlea Care Home is a residential care home in Hampshire, providing support for older people. The findings below set out the CQC's most recent inspection of the home.

Brackenlea Care Home supports up to 25 older people, including those living with dementia, physical disabilities or mental health conditions. The CQC found several safety shortfalls: infection control guidance was not always followed, medicines were not consistently managed safely, and risks around diet, air mattresses, water safety and stored chemicals were not fully addressed. Governance systems had not identified all these issues, though the provider had begun making improvements.

Inspectors also found many positives. Staff were kind, knew people well, and worked well as a team and with outside professionals. Care was person centred, staffing levels were sufficient, and people and relatives spoke warmly of the home, describing it as loving, homely and clean.
