Birchmere Mews

Birchmere Mews is a purpose-built residential care home accommodating up to 63 people. It provides care to older people, younger adults, and those with mental health conditions, dementia, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments. Assessments are carried out before people move in to ensure their needs can be met, and there is an effective system for identifying and regularly reviewing risks to keep residents safe. Health professionals are contacted where appropriate to support healthcare needs.

Residents felt safe and spoke positively about the staff and their experience of living at the home. Staff understand their responsibilities in keeping people safe and are recruited through safe procedures with sufficient staffing levels to meet residents' needs. Staff receive ongoing training, supervision and support to perform their roles effectively. They know residents well and facilitate access to social activities and stimulation according to individual preferences to support wellbeing. Where residents lack capacity, this is identified and they receive appropriate support with decision-making.
