Bedford Care Home

Bedford Care Home provides personal and nursing care for up to 180 people across six units. Astley and Lilford units support people requiring personal care, Croft and Kenyon for those with mainly physical nursing needs, and Pennington and Beech for people with dementia care nursing needs. The home also has designated intermediate care beds. At inspection, 119 people were living at the home across five units in use.

People told inspectors they felt safe at the home. Adequate staffing was deployed to meet needs, though residents noted staff were very busy with limited time for conversation. Staff demonstrated knowledge of safeguarding procedures and how to report concerns. Accidents and incidents were logged consistently on the electronic system with analysis to identify patterns and prevent recurrence. Medicines were managed safely by trained and competency-assessed staff. The home maintained clean premises with effective infection control processes in place.
