About Bedford Care Home

Bedford Care Home is a nursing home in Wigan, providing personal and nursing care to adults with nursing needs. Details on how the service performs are set out in the CQC findings below.

Bedford Care Home is a residential nursing home providing personal and nursing care for up to 180 people, with 154 people living there at the time of assessment. The CQC found people received safe, kind and respectful care, with medicines managed well and staff supported to raise concerns. Some record keeping around nutrition needed improvement, and busy staff sometimes gave task-focused rather than personal interactions.

Care plans were mostly detailed, though minor inconsistencies were found, and the activity schedule was not always followed, though more outings and events had recently taken place. People and relatives generally spoke positively about the home, felt safe and were involved in day to day choices. Overall, inspectors rated the home Good, with effectiveness rated as requiring improvement.
