Athlone House Nursing Home

Athlone House Nursing Home provides nursing and personal care for up to 23 people with continuing and palliative care needs across two accessible floors with a lift. At the time of inspection, 19 people were living in the home. Staff support people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, operating in their best interests and using the least restrictive approaches. The home has robust systems in place to protect people from abuse, with risk assessments identifying potential dangers and mitigation strategies. Staffing levels are adequate to meet people's needs, supported by strong recruitment practices.

The home manages medicines safely and maintains effective infection control and prevention systems. The premises are well-maintained and suitable for purpose. Accidents and incidents are reviewed systematically to identify lessons and improve practice.
