Aspen House Limited

Aspen House provides personal care to up to 22 older and younger adults, some of whom also receive mental health support. At the time of inspection, 22 people were using the service, with two temporarily admitted to hospital.

Inspectors found concerns with safeguarding systems, which had not always been operated effectively and referrals had not always been made when required. Medicines management was not consistently safe, and while risk assessments were in place, not all reflected people's current risks. The principles of the Mental Capacity Act had not always been applied to care decisions. Although managers and staff had received training, this had not always been put into practice. The provider's governance systems to assess, monitor and improve risks required strengthening.
