Ashmore Nursing Home

This care home provides personal and nursing care for up to 42 older people, though 27 were living there at the time of inspection. Inspectors identified significant shortfalls in managing risks to people's safety, including inadequate oversight of environmental hazards, catheter care, wound care and medicines management. Not all residents had proper care and risk management plans in place, leaving staff without formal guidance on how to support people safely. Safe recruitment procedures were not consistently followed, meaning people risked being supported by unsuitable staff.

Despite these concerns, inspectors observed positive relationships between residents and staff. People and their families gave mostly positive feedback about staff approachability and communication. However, additional work was needed to ensure residents isolated in their rooms received sufficient staff support and planned activities to prevent social isolation.
