About Amber Lodge

Amber Lodge, in Southend-on-Sea, provides accommodation and care for up to 24 people living with dementia and those needing nursing and palliative care. At the time of the assessment, 15 people were living at the home, across accommodation on two floors with communal areas. The CQC rated the service Good overall.

Inspectors found staffing levels were sufficient and staff were properly recruited, trained and supported, including in managing medicines safely. People were supported to make choices and maintain independence, with care based on least restrictive approaches. Residents and relatives spoke positively about feeling safe and well cared for, and the management team showed effective oversight with a focus on learning and improvement.
