Alderson House

This residential care home provides personal care for up to 27 people with dementia or mental health needs. At inspection, 13 people were using the service.

Inspectors found that risks to people's safety and wellbeing had not always been properly assessed, recorded and managed, and some care plans were outdated. While staff administered medicines safely and demonstrated good knowledge, protocols for medicines given as needed were not consistently in place and medicine storage temperatures were not always properly monitored.

Quality assurance systems had not identified or addressed several shortfalls, including issues with servicing of lifting equipment, medicines protocols, care records and risk assessments.
