Abbeyfield Residential Care Home - The Grove is a residential care home in Middlesbrough providing support to up to 32 older people, some living with dementia. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, following concerns about care and treatment, staffing and management. Inspectors found breaches relating to unsafe medicines management, insufficient care planning around risk, staffing levels, and poor oversight, including missed statutory notifications to the regulator.

Despite this, people and relatives spoke positively about the care provided and felt able to raise concerns. Some feedback highlighted difficulties caused by unfamiliar agency staff. The provider was already making management changes at the time of the assessment, and the CQC has asked for an action plan setting out further improvements.
