Abbeyfield House - Stockport

This adapted building near Bramhall Village provides nursing and personal care for up to 16 older people across two floors. At inspection, the home was at full capacity with 16 residents. People felt safe and well cared for, with robust systems in place for assessing and managing risk. When issues arose, including accidents, the service had processes to ensure learning took place. Staffing levels were adequate to meet residents' needs, and recruitment practices were safe. Staff were well trained and supported in their roles.

Residents received their medicines safely and were protected from infection risks. Their needs were assessed and care was provided in line with their preferences. The home supported people to access healthcare services and ensured they ate and drank well. Staff promoted maximum choice and control, supporting residents in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests, with policies and systems throughout the service reinforcing this approach.
