44 Albion Road is a residential care home in Sutton providing personal care for up to 7 people with a learning disability and/or autism. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, following a focused assessment prompted by concerns about safety and the compatibility of people living there. Inspectors found staffing levels, recruitment, staff training and support for people with healthcare needs were handled well.

However, the CQC found the provider had not properly assessed the impact of placing an incompatible mix of people together, which caused distress and disrupted daily routines. There was no consultation with people, relatives or staff before moves took place, and discord within the staff team was still being addressed. The provider was in breach of regulations on person-centred care and governance, and was asked to submit an action plan.
