Wellburn House

Wellburn House provides accommodation and personal care for up to 90 older people and those living with dementia. At inspection, 54 people were using the service. The home had implemented comprehensive visiting procedures including health questionnaires, temperature checks, PPE availability, and lateral flow testing for all visitors. A designated safe visiting area with a perspex screen was fogged between each visit. For families unable to visit in person, the home arranged video calls, supported residents to write letters and cards, sent monthly newsletters, and held virtual relatives' meetings via video call. Staff followed consistent infection control practices, changing into uniforms at the start of their shift and changing again before leaving. The home planned to reintroduce its previous appointment system for visits once restrictions were lifted.
