Wansbeck House

Wansbeck House provides care for up to eight younger adults with learning disabilities and complex physical care needs. The self-contained flat is part of the Percy Hedley Foundation and residents access on-site educational facilities and the provider's nearby college. At the time of inspection, six people were permanent residents and one was using the service on a respite basis.

The registered and new managers demonstrated strong commitment to person-centred support, having reduced maximum occupancy from ten to eight and converted bedrooms into additional communal spaces including a chill out room and bathroom. Staff support residents to develop independence while completing full-time education courses. The home was personalised and relaxed, with well-designed communal and private spaces that enabled people to live as full a life as possible and achieve the best outcomes.
