Vaughan Lee House

Vaughan Lee House provides personal care to up to 30 older people, with 24 residents at the time of inspection. The service has significant concerns regarding safety and record-keeping. People's care records were often incomplete and not regularly reviewed, and individual risks were not always thoroughly assessed or properly mitigated. The medicines system lacked robustness, with topical cream administration not consistently recorded and insufficient guidance for when certain prescribed medicines should be given. Staff did not always demonstrate understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards when supporting people's choice and control over their lives. Recruitment procedures were not sufficiently thorough, and staff training and guidance were inadequate to ensure safe care delivery. The home's governance systems failed to identify these areas of concern before the inspection.
