Turret Villa Retirement Home provides personal care and accommodation for up to 35 older people, with 27 residents living there at the time of inspection. However, significant concerns were identified around medicines management. Medicines were not always stored or disposed of safely, stock balances were inaccurate, and care plans for specialist medicines were frequently absent. Medicines audits lacked robustness and did not identify these issues.

The home's quality assurance systems were ineffective at identifying problems. Some staff training was significantly out of date, and there was no clear evidence that lessons from incidents and accidents were being learned and shared with staff. Additionally, staff did not consistently support people to make choices about their care in the least restrictive way possible, and documentation of decision-making did not follow required guidance.
