The Pastures

This residential care home provides accommodation across three bungalows for up to 13 people with learning disabilities and autism, many of whom have additional sensory and medical needs. At inspection, 12 people were living at the service in personalised, well-equipped spaces.

The service faced challenges with staffing continuity, with high vacancy rates and 30 staff having started within the previous year. Many temporary staff had not received the same level of training as permanent staff, resulting in inexperienced support workers who lacked insight into residents' individual needs. The frequency of incidents suggested people experienced distress and limited control over their environment and the staff supporting them. The model of care did not consistently enable people to make choices or exercise control over their daily lives.
