The Manor House Whickham

The Manor House Whickham is a purpose-built care home providing residential and nursing care for up to 74 people, including those living with dementia. At the time of inspection, 69 people were using the service. The home had comprehensive policies and procedures to manage COVID-19 risks, including protocols for managing people with positive diagnoses. Staff implemented regular testing for residents, staff, essential carers and visitors, with screening procedures that included temperature checks, vaccination evidence and lateral flow tests before entry. An ample supply of PPE was available for staff and visitors. When visiting had to be limited during outbreaks, the home supported residents and relatives through alternative contact methods including video calls, a visiting pod and access to communal gardens.
