The Grove

The Grove is a residential care home providing personal care for up to five adults aged 18 and over with learning disabilities and/or autism. Set in a large adapted house in a residential area with private enclosed gardens, the home currently supports three residents with another person planning to move in. Staff are knowledgeable and recruited safely, and people were observed to be happy and well-supported. The service provides flexible care tailored to individual needs, wishes and choices.

The home analyses accidents and incidents to improve outcomes, though some behavioural incident records lacked sufficient detail. Staff debrief sessions following incidents were managed inconsistently, limiting opportunities for reflection and learning. While the provider and registered manager monitor quality, seek people's views and plan improvements, audits of incident records had not identified these inconsistencies in how staff record and reflect on their practices when managing challenging behaviours.
