The Grange Residential Home

The Grange provides residential care and accommodation for up to 9 people with learning disabilities and/or autism. At the time of inspection, 7 people were using the service. Safeguarding procedures had not been fully established, and support plans and risk assessments lacked sufficient detail to guide staff on how to provide meaningful care tailored to individual needs. This placed people at risk of not having their needs met.

Care plans did not contain enough information to ensure people's needs, goals and wishes were addressed. Staff did not consistently support people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, nor were they supported in the least restrictive way possible. The overall culture and approach of the service was more reflective of an older person's home rather than one designed to meet the specific needs of people with learning disabilities and autism. The provider's monitoring processes were not always effective in ensuring people received consistently good quality care and support.
