The Gables Retirement Home

The Gables Retirement Home, in Derbyshire, is a residential care home providing support for up to 35 adults, including people living with dementia. This assessment followed earlier enforcement action over poor governance, and the CQC found the provider was no longer in breach, rating the service Good overall.

Inspectors found safe, well-organised care with clear risk assessments, safely managed medicines, and a new manager who had improved staff morale and leadership. Staff were kind and attentive, and people felt safe. Some areas still needed updating, including signage, and some relatives said they wanted more involvement in care plan reviews and better day-to-day communication.
