Springfield Lodge

Springfield Lodge provides personal care to up to 15 older people and people living with dementia across two floors of an adapted building. At inspection, 14 people were using the service. However, inspectors found significant safety concerns, with people at risk of harm due to failures in identifying and addressing issues with the service's safety and quality. Health and safety assessments, including fire safety procedures, had not been robustly completed, and known issues remained unaddressed. Falls risks were not always effectively managed to prevent incidents, and systems for the safe use of medicines were not consistently in place.

Leadership at the service was ineffective, with the registered manager and provider not fulfilling their regulatory responsibilities. The provider lacked effective oversight systems and had not identified the issues found during inspection. However, the registered manager was responsive to feedback and had begun making improvements. Staff did not consistently support people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, and policies did not adequately support least restrictive practice in people's best interests.
