Springfield Grange

Springfield Grange provides personal and nursing care across four units, supporting up to 80 people including those with nursing needs and dementia. At inspection, 49 people were using the service. Inspectors found that care and treatment were not always appropriate or tailored to people's preferences. Staff did not consistently support people to have maximum choice and control in their lives, and approaches were sometimes restrictive and not in people's best interests. There was no recorded information about when people preferred to be supported to go to bed or get up.

Inspectors observed insufficient engagement and activities in communal areas and for people receiving care in bed. Both activity coordinator posts were vacant at the time of inspection. The home also had significant shortfalls in medicines management. Medicines administration was not safely recorded, storage was unsafe in some areas, and medicine counts were incorrect, with the provider unable to explain the discrepancies.
