Sir Aubrey Ward House

Sir Aubrey Ward House accommodates up to 60 people aged 65 and over across four separate wings, with one specialising in dementia care. At the time of inspection, 29 people were living there. Quality monitoring and risk management had improved to protect residents from harm and abuse. Staff demonstrated knowledge and skill in meeting people's emotional and physical needs, which residents confirmed through conversations with inspectors.

However, inspectors found that staff had not routinely followed some safe procedures, including testing water temperatures and documenting catheter care checks. These gaps had not been identified through the home's own checks and audits. The registered manager and quality manager took immediate action to address these issues. Some care records did not consistently demonstrate how staff followed people's care plans when residents were in distress.
