Silver Birches

Silver Birches provides personal care for up to 31 older people aged 65 and over, with 18 residents living there at the time of inspection. Residents felt safe and well-supported by staff, who had identified and assessed risks with appropriate measures in place. Staffing levels were regularly reviewed to meet people's needs, and recruitment procedures were safe and robust.

Staff received regular training, supervision and appraisals, and supported residents to access health professionals when needed. People were supported to have maximum choice and control over their lives in the least restrictive way possible. Staff respected residents' privacy and dignity while encouraging independence. An issue was identified regarding the management of 'as and when required' medicines for pain relief, and a recommendation was made to address this.
