Shire Oak House

Shire Oak House accommodates up to 26 older people and people with dementia in a two-storey adapted building with lift access. At inspection, 24 people were living there with two vacancies. Day shifts typically include five staff including a senior carer and the registered manager, while nights are covered by two staff with managers on-call as needed.

Inspectors identified concerns about medication management for people entering step-down service provision. There was no system in place to ensure adequate medication stock, and one person did not receive their medication for a full day as a result of these gaps in the process.
