About Seaham View

Seaham View is a residential care home in County Durham, providing accommodation and personal care for people with a learning disability. The findings below set out what CQC inspectors found on their most recent visit.

Seaham View provides accommodation and personal care for up to 12 people with a learning disability, with 11 people living there at the time of assessment. Inspectors carried out a responsive assessment after concerns about staffing, medicines, nutrition, management and dignity, and found the home was performing well overall, meeting the principles of "Right support, right care, right culture" despite housing more people than guidance recommends.

The CQC found medicines were given safely, though some documentation needed improvement. Staffing levels were sufficient, support plans were person-centred, and people had choice, independence and access to community life. People and relatives spoke positively, describing Seaham View as home, with good communication, safeguarding awareness and effective quality assurance in place.
