Saxby Lodge Residential Care Home provides residential care for older people. The CQC found the service requires improvement overall and has placed it in special measures after identifying three breaches of regulation covering safe care, staffing and governance. Inspectors found risks to people were not always assessed or managed, medicines were not stored safely, and audits were not effective at picking up problems.

People and relatives spoke warmly of staff, describing them as kind and said they felt safe and well cared for, with enough trained staff on hand. However, inspectors found little social engagement or activity on offer, which was affecting quality of life. Choice around meals, routines and healthcare access was found to be positive, and the manager was seen as approachable.
