Roxburgh House Care Home

This residential care home accommodates up to 38 older people across two units: a 23-bed residential area and a 15-bed unit specialising in dementia care. The single storey building was at full capacity at the time of inspection. Staff maintained high standards of hygiene and infection control, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following correct protocols for its use and disposal. A regular testing programme was in place for both staff and residents, and cleaning schedules ensured frequent cleaning throughout the day, including of high-touch points.

The home had implemented comprehensive policies and risk assessments to protect people during the pandemic. A notable feature was a log cabin built in the grounds to enable safe visits from families and friends, complete with facilities for hand washing and sanitising. The care home benefited from a stable, established staff team, meaning it had not required temporary external staffing support.
