Peacehaven

Peacehaven is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to people aged 65 and over, accommodating 54 people in one adapted building. The service implemented appropriate infection control measures including routine testing for all staff and service users, with clear cleaning schedules for high-touch areas. Staff demonstrated proper use of personal protective equipment in line with guidelines and maintained good standards of infection prevention and control throughout the inspection.

The service supported relatives to maintain contact through video calls and portal access, and staff provided dedicated support time to help people cope with isolation and maintain their mental wellbeing.

The home made the decision to pause new admissions until all residents tested negative for coronavirus, prioritizing the safety of existing residents. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities regarding infection control, and the provider met COVID-19 staff vaccination requirements. Despite the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, staff maintained person-centred care approaches and proactively supported residents' wellbeing through alternative social contact methods and mental health support.
